PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron gun assembly for a color cathode ray tube which realizes a high-quality image by preventing convergence degradation due to focusing of the electron beams and moire over the whole screen. SOLUTION: Electron discharged from a cathode, which forms three poles, are introduced into the electron beam holes, and electron beams are generated; to converge and accelerate the electron beams, a control electrode, an accelerating electrode, a third grid electrode and a plate-shaped fourth grid electrode with fixed thickness T are placed successively in line; electron beam hole with fixed diameter formed in the accelerating electrode is positioned in the center, and in the periphery, concavity with width B being larger than vertical width W and with fixed depth D to the side of the third grid is formed; shapes of the accelerating electrode and fourth grid electrode are formed so as to satisfy the following equation: 2.8 mm<=(D/W)+(T/A)<=3.2 mm.
