PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve error correcting capability, without having to enlarge the scale of an equipment in a UDMV(united demodulator of an MLSE (maximum likelihood sequence estimator) and Viterbi Decoder). SOLUTION: A channel-inferring unit 106 infers the maximum delay time of a delayed wave. An encoder 101 convolution encodes transmission data in a constraint length adaptively decided, based on the maximum delay time of a multipath inferred in the unit 106, transmits the encoded data, and notifies information indicating the constraint length of the convolutional code to a receiver side. The receiver side simultaneously conducts Viterbi decoding and equalization of the information in response to the constraint length notified from the transmitter side by the UDMV 153, to acquire reception data.
