PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal communication system, by which the user of a terminal can easily recognize the contents of an automatic answering telephone message. SOLUTION: This terminal communication system is provided with base stations 1-3, switching station 5, service control station 6, line control station 71 and voice signal storage device 72 for receiving voice signals from a transmission side portable telephone, voice signal/character signal conversion part 73 for converting voice signals into character signals, character signal storage device 75 for storing the character signals corresponding to the telephone number of a call termination side portable telephone 4 and the line control station 71, the service control station 6, the switching station 5 and the base station 1-3 for transmitting the character signals to the call termination side portable telephone 4, when it is detected that the call termination side portable telephone 4 is communication enabled.
