PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supervisory camera system that detects a change in an image pickup position of a supervisory camera in a short time to inform a supervisor about the occurrence of abnormity on the basis of a difference from changes in the luminance of a reference line and a feature point even when the image pickup direction of the supervisory camera is subjected to change. SOLUTION: The supervisory camera system includes an image pickup means that picks up an image of a supervisory area and an image comparison control means that compares picked up images by the image pickup means as its control. The image comparison control means stores position information of a reference pixel when selecting at least one reference pixel in response to the operation of an operator, stores the luminance of the reference pixel in an image picked up by the image pickup means, extracts a pixel corresponding to position information of the reference pixel from the newly picked-up image when the image pickup means picks up the new image, obtains a luminance difference for each corresponding pixel regarding the extracted pixel and the reference pixel and discriminates that the imaging direction of the image pickup means is changed when the luminance difference between the both reaches a prescribed value or over.
