PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a piezoelectric resonator capable of simplifying its manufacturing process, effectively suppressing width mode ripple, excellent in frequency characteristic, and using low cost thickness slip mode. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric resonator 7 comprises a pair of vibrating electrodes 7b and 7c partially formed on both main faces of a piezoelectric substrate 7a, and a dumping materials 10 provided so as to coat a vibrating section only on a pair of sides connecting one main face 7a1 and both main faces 7a2 and 7a3 of the piezoelectric resonator 7.
