MULTI-COMPONENT YARN AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite yarn suitable for various kinds of protective wear and method for manufacturing the composite yarn. SOLUTION: The composite yarn contains at least one stainless steal-made strand 22, the first non-metallic strand 24 made of a cutting resistant material and the second non-metallic strand 26 made of a cutting resistant material, a non-cutting resistant material or a glass fiber. These non-metallic strands are interlaced with each other by air so that they form intermittent bonds along the whole length of the strands. In the course of the interlacing by air, the two non-metallic strands wrap the stainless steal strand in the non-metallic strands at least several zones of the non-metallic strands. The composite yarn can be formed by winding at least one cover strand around a combined in the first direction. The composite yarn can be formed further by winding the second cover strand around the combined yarn in the second direction which is opposite to the first direction.
