<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MLC display base on the EBC effect having an extremely great resistance value, and a liquid crystal medium for such display. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal medium comprises a mixture of a polar compound having a negative dielectric anisotropy as the base material, and a compound of formula I1 and a compound of formula I2 (wherein R11, R12, and R21 are each independently a 1-15C alkyl group or an alkenyl group which is non-substituted or substituted with one CN or CF3 or one or more halogens, and one or more CH2 groups in these groups may be independently substituted with O, S, C≡C, CO, CO-O, O-CO or O-CO-O; Z is C2H4, CH=CH, CF2O, OCF2 or a single bond; and alkenyl is a 2-6C linear alkenyl group).</p> |
