PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively utilizing a by-produced ester of allophanic acid in the method for producing a dialkyl carbonate from urea and an alkyl alcohol. SOLUTION: This method for producing the dialkyl carbonate represented by general formula (3): RO-CO-OR, wherein, R is an alkyl group comprises using the allophanic acid represented by general formula (1): RO-CO-NH-CO- NH2, and an alkyl alcohol represented by general formula (2): ROH.
