PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily provide a rated speed of an elevator without enlarging a device. SOLUTION: A hydraulic jack 7 comprises a cylinder 25 and a telescopic plunger 21 for raising and dropping a car 5 in a hoistway 1 by expanding or shrinking for the cylinder 25. A hydraulic power unit 37 supplies working oil to the hydraulic jack 7 to expand and shrink the plunger 21.
