PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover pad used for covering plural reaction wells which open toward upward and are constituted in a planar form for carrying out a chemical and/or microbiological reaction such as PCR process and the like. SOLUTION: This cover pad is made of an elastomer and increased in rigidity by including a soft backing material having a protecting plate. The protecting plate is curved and, when at least 5 N compressive load is loaded to the whole surface of the protecting plate by a planar compressive body, the protecting plate is brought to elastically engage to have a corresponding non-curved shape. The cover pad can be lifted by a small force from reaction wheels even when the reaction carried out in the reaction wells generates a vacuum state.
