PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a changing membrane separation unit with an adjustable aeration depth which is capable of easily adjusting a vessel capacity and an air quantity for aeration according to the volume of the sewage generated in an installation area and the characteristics of the sewage. SOLUTION: A main body vessel 1 for treating the sewage to be treated with activated sludge within the vessel is formed by freely attachably and detachably and water-tightly connecting a basic vessel 2, a frame 3 for water depth adjustment to be placed on this basic vessel 2 and an upper frame 4 to be placed on this frame 3 for water depth adjustment. Membrane cases 5 are fixed and arranged in the upper frame 4 and plural membrane cartridges 7 are arranged within the membrane cases 5. Draft cases 8 consisting of plural connectable and disconnectable nodal parts are freely attachably and detachably mounted at the lower parts of the membrane cases 5 and air diffusion devices 9 are arranged to face bottom end openings 8c of the draft cases 8 within the basic vessel 2.
