PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective method for producing a cytidine derivative. SOLUTION: This method for producing the cytidine derivative expressed by formula (3) comprises reacting a uridine derivative expressed by formula (1) with a tertiary amine together with a reagent having a dehydrating property and then with ammonia, or a primary or secondary amine expressed by formula (2). (In formulae (1), (2), (3), X is H, a halogen atom, a 1-4C alkyl or the like; R1, R2 are each independently H, or a blocking group for hydroxyl group; R3 is H, a halogen atom, hydroxyl, a 1-4C alkyl, cyano, an alkenyl, an alkynyl, a 1-4C alkoxyl or the like; R4, R5 are each independently H, a 1-4C alkyl, a 5-8C cycloalkyl, a 1-4C alkyl group substituted by a halogen atom or a 2-4C alkenyl; and R4 and R5 may form a ring by binding them together).
