METHOD FOR PRODUCING TRIMELLITIC ACID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which uncolored trimellitic anhydride is obtained in high yield when producing the trimellitic acid by oxidizing pseudocumene. SOLUTION: This method for producing the trimellitic acid is carried out by allowing the pseudocumene of an oxidation raw material to contain >=5 wt.% dimethylbenzaldehyde.
