PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an anti-inflammatory of high safety containing an extract of a perennial bush plant, Rubus suavissims S.Lee and having cyclooxygenase- inhibiting activity. SOLUTION: The leaves or stems of 'TENCHA', a perennial bush plant, Rubus suavissims S.Lee are dried with solar heat, extracted with an aqueous solvent such as water, ethanol to prepare a solution containing 0.01-5wt.% of the extract. The dried plant is extracted with the solvent in an amount of 2-1,000 pts.wt., preferably 5-100 pts.wt. per 1 pt.wt. of the plant at room temperature under atmospheric pressure for 10 minutes to 24 hours. This extract is preferably used in the dried form from the viewpoint of its storability and the safety of the solvent. The extract is used directly as it is or formulated with known medicinal extenders to give oral preparation, parenteral preparations such as suppository or preparation for external use, in addition, food products such as candy, troche, chewing gum, ice cream or beverage, or cosmetics such as lotion, cream, tip stick, hair setting agent, tooth paste, shampoo or bath articles. |
