PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the fluidity of molten metal and to surely produce a high quality cast product without developing the cast defect at a low cost by reducing the oxidized film formed on the surface of molten metal. SOLUTION: The oxidized film formed on the surface of the molten metal is reduced in a forming mold 12 and cast. Magnesium powder is fed into a heating furnace 28 from a tank 36 holding the magnesium powder, and heated in the heating furnace 28, and after introducing the sublimated magnesium gas into a cavity in the forming mold 12, gaseous nitrogen is introduced into the cavity from a nitrogen gas cylinder 20 to produce magnesium-nitrogen compound in the cavity. In this state, the oxidized film formed on the surface of the molten metal 18 is reduced be the magnesium-nitrogen compound and cast by pouring the molten metal 18 into the cavity.
