PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a precise work holding angle without damaging a work by measuring a bent shape of a section subjecting to bending deformation in a die and to detect a material constant. SOLUTION: In the case of detecting a bending angle of the bent work, a work external shape coordinate value on calculation is calculated from the die data and the work data stored in a memory beforehand, the bending press force detected by a press force detection means in bending and the ram stroke quantity detected by a ram position detection means (step S5-S11). From the deviation between the work external shape coordinate value on this calculation and the work external shape coordinate value measured at several places in a bending line direction by a work external shape measurement means, based on the angle between the work and a die shoulder part calculated when the deviation is minimized, a precise work holding angle is calculated (step S16, S17). The work holding angle is calculated without directly measuring the work, so the work is not damaged.
