<p>PURPOSE:To dispose a water absorbable polymer as it is after heat treatment by heat-treating the water absorbable polymer in a water absorption state at 40 deg.C or higher in the presence of a curing agent used in an amount of 0.2 pt.wt. or more per one pt.wt. of the water absorbable polymer. CONSTITUTION:Hydrogen peroxide is added to a water absorbable polymer used in a sanitary article as an oxidizing agent in a ratio of 0.2 pt.wt. or more per one pt.wt. of the water absorbable polymer. As a method for the heat- treatment of the water absorbable polymer in the presence of the oxidizing agent, for example, there is a method wherein an aqueous solution of the oxidizing solution is absorbed in the water absorbable polymer to heat-treat said polymer or a method wherein water is added to the mixture of the oxidizing agent and the water absorbable polymer to heat-treat said mixture. The ratio of water is set to 50 times or more one pt.wt. of the water absorbable polymer. Heat treatment is performed at 40 deg.C or higher for 1-10 days but, by performing stirring, for example, l-2 days can be shortened. By this method, the mol.wt. of the water absorbable polymer is reduced, for example, to 50000 or less and the molecule reduced in its mol.wt. can be dissolved in water and decomposed by the action of bacteria to be disposed.</p> |
