PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing metal foil powder extremely thin and further excellent in metallic luster. SOLUTION: In this method, a layer of a low molecule compound is deposited on the face of a base material film, a metallic vapor deposition thin film is deposited on the low molecule compound layer, thereafter, solvent treatment with water or the like or mechanical peeling is performed by utilizing the solubility or peelability of the low molecule compound, and the metallic vapor deposition thin film layer is peeled and pulverized.
