PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent such deteriorations of a transesterification catalyst as a reduction in catalytic activity and discoloration due to its storage in air, and suppress a side reaction such as decomposition to a low level and to produce a polycarbonate resin minimizing discoloration and having a low content of different linkages such as a branched crosslinkage. SOLUTION: The transesterification catalyst used comprises a compound obtained by reacting two or more transesterification catalyst precursors. It is desirable that the catalyst precursors comprise at least one silyl ether compound and at least one fluorine compound and that alkoxide anion produced from those two or more precursors are used as the transesterification catalyst.
