PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the settings of adequate dragging powers on fishing lines having different strengths in a front dragging mechanism. SOLUTION: The front dragging mechanism 60 of a spinning reel comprises an operation knob 61, an elastic mechanism 62, a pressing member 63, and one or a plurality of dragging disks 83, 86. The operation knob has a nut 64 threadedly engaged with a spool shaft 15 and a knob member 65 on which the knot is nonrotatably fixed in a freely movable state in the direction of the shaft. The elastic mechanism is mounted on the side of the outer periphery of the spool shaft, touches the nut at its front end so that it can be compressed and has a spring constant which increases on the way. The pressing member is nonrotatable against the spool shaft and touches the back end of the elastic mechanism so that a pressing power changes according to the change of the spring force of the elastic mechanism. One of the plurality of dragging disks are placed in the state where it touches the spool 4 so that the frictional force against the spool changes according to the change of the pressing power of the pressing member.
