PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer roller capable of preventing generation of dust due to rotation so as to obtain stable rotating state, having a long life, and transferring a workpiece with high accuracy without any bad influence upon the workpiece. SOLUTION: Compressed air is supplied from an air feeding hole 42 opened at the end part of a support shaft 24. The compressed air jetted into exhaust passages 38a, 38b through communicating holes 44a, 44b and communicating holes 40a, 40b pressurizes the inner peripheral walls of sleeve bearings 32a, 32b equally, thereby supporting a roller main body 18 in the non-contact state in the radial direction. On the other hand, the compressed air jetted into exhaust passages 54a, 54b through communicating holes 48a, 48b and communicating boles 46a, 46b pressurizes the inner walls of cap members 50a, 50b at both end parts equally, thereby supporting the roller main body 18 in the non-contact state in the thrust direction. In this state, a motor 20 is driven to rotate the roller main body 18 in the floating state.
