PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cycle stitch sewing machine permitting only a thread cutting operation to be performed alone at the time when the operation of a cloth holding device is unnecessary. SOLUTION: In a single loop stitch sewing machine 100 provided with a thread cutting means comprising a moving knife 13 and the like, a boosting lever 5 raising a grip device 7 holding cloth, an operating arm 4 moving in one direction to operate the thread cutting means and the boosting lever 5 according to the moving position and a driving solenoid 1 driving the operating arm 4, which subsequently moves to a stand-by position, a thread-cutting finish position (a boosting start position) and a boosting finish position at the time of moving in the direction, there is provided a CPU 53 controlling the duty factor of electric current flowing to the driving solenoid 1 in such a manner that the operating arm 4 can be stopped at the boosting start position.
