PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the mixing of air in distributed molten metal when the molten metal is distributed to a molten metal holding furnace in a casting machine, etc., at a low cost and to sufficiently restrain the development of pin hole and the lowering of strength in a casting, etc. SOLUTION: In a method for preventing the mixing of air into the distributed molten metal, when the molten metal is distributed by using a funnel 2 for distributing the molten metal to the molten metal holding furnace 1, the molten metal is poured into the funnel 2 filled with inert gas in advance and distributed into the molten metal holding furnace 1. Further, after filling the funnel 2 with the inert gas, the inert gas can intermittently be supplied in the funnel 2. As the funnel 2, the one which is provided with a storing part 21 having an upper opening part 20 and storing the supplied molten metal and a molten metal distributing part 22 projected from the bottom part of the storing part 21, and in which inert gas spouting means 21b is formed at the upper part thereof, is used. Furthermore, in the storing part 21, a cover 23 capable of selecting the closing state and the opening state of the upper opening part 20, can be arranged.
