PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find a coating material free from a harmful metal such as lead, chromium, or the like, coating a nontoxic or low toxic rust proofing agent to exhibit anticorrosion properties equal or superior to lead, chromium, or the like, and excellent in stability. SOLUTION: The coating composition comprises a glucose derivative compound represented by general formula (1): R1-(CO)m-(CHOH)n-R2, wherein (n) is 2-4; (m) is 0 or 1; R1 is CHO or CH2OH; and R2 is CH2OH or CH3.
