A pile fabric which comprises a ground portion comprising wefts and warps of nontwisted or interlaced polyester filaments having a torque of zero or as low as 100T/m or less disposed in a flat form. This fabric is free from the feeling of the thickness of the ground as experienced in the use of the conventional spun yarns, has excellent formability and sewability, and enables a small pile length (less than 1.5 mm). Specifying the thickness of the constituent filament and the yarn form for pile yarns can realize a variety of pile fabrics like velvet, amunzen, astrakhan, or suede. |
