PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform double-sided copying faithfully to the image of an original by plural number of copies in a short time without causing the missing of the image or an excessive blank when the originals having different size coexist. SOLUTION: In the double-sided copying of the original by plural number of copies when the originals having the different size coexist, read image size is successively stored and the image size for the first side of recording paper is compared with that for the second side thereof. When they are different, a detection signal is outputted. At the time of performing copying operation for the first copy, image output operation for the first side of the recording paper is started immediately after reading the image from the first side of the recording paper, and the recording paper on the first side of which the image has been fixed is carried to a double-sided path 26. Only when the detection signal is outputted, a blank image is outputted on the second side. At the time of copying for the second and succeeding copies, the recording paper decided as the paper the second side of which is blank based on the copying operation of the first copy is reversed and ejected without through the double- sided path after fixing the image on the first side. |
