PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a condenser and an image information reader that are small in size, low cost configured flexibly and that efficiently introduce a light including image information to a photodetector, obtain image information with satisfactory S/N, reduce the read time of the image interface. SOLUTION: The condenser is provided with a long reflection member, having an incidence opening section the inner face of which is a light-reflecting mirror surface and provided with a photodetector that detects the light in the reflection member. The shape of the light reflecting face and the position of the incidence opening section are selected, so that the light made incident from the incidence opening section undergoes repeated reflections in one direction as viewed in a direction perpendicular to the length direction of the reflection member.
