PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging method of plural alkali water solution secondary cells for backup use connected in parallel with limited charging current, which is not influenced by the change of ambient temperature or the deteriorative state of battery, and restrains the deterioration of the cell to the utmost. SOLUTION: The plural alkali water solution secondary cells for backup use connected in parallel is constructed by connecting row of cells 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4. When the ambient temperature is T deg.C, by opening and closing the switches S-1, S-2, S-3, S-4, the row of cells 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4 are charged for a certain period t, row by row successively. The time t is set by the formula t=A×exp (BT), (where; A and B are the constant determined by the corresponding to the secondary cell).
