PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an organic EL element, capable of forming an EL layer having superior smoothness and uniform film thickness, even when forming the EL layer using wet method on a comparably large substrate surface. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method of the organic EL element includes a process for forming the El layer, comprising organic layers having a single layer or plural layers including a luminescent layer on an electrode layer of a substrate, having the electrode layer formed on its surface. The method has a characteristic that a process for forming one or more layers of the organic layers forming the EL layer is a smooth layer forming process, having an application process for applying coating liquid for organic layer formation and a rotation processing process for executing rotation processing, after the application process.
