PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the format efficiency of a magnetic disk. SOLUTION: A zone separation band 5 serving as a signal band that separates the adjacent data zones 29 from each other is prepared between both zones 29 and also all data sectors are defined as non-split data sectors. As a result, the format efficiency of the magnetic disk is improved and larger quantity of data can be recorded and reproduced.
