PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a faulty image by preventing faulty electrification caused by the intrusion of toner left after transfer in a magnetic brush electrifier. SOLUTION: Injected carrier 2b is held on the surface of a non-magnetic sleeve 2a in a brush state by a fixed magnet arranged inside and is brought into contact with the surface of a photoreceptor drum 1. By rotating the sleeve 2a and applying voltage obtained by superimposing DC on AC to a bias power source 2c, the surface of the drum 1 is electrified by injection. Every time images for 20,000 sheets are formed, AC voltage having larger amplitude than AC voltage at the time of electrification is applied to the sleeve 2a, and magnetic particles 2b are partially stuck to the surface of the drum 1 and then recovered by a carrier capturing means 13. The magnetic brush electrifier 2 is filled with the injected carrier 2b by an amount equivalent to the amount of the recovered carrier by a replenishing device 12. By appropriately exchanging the carrier 2b, the faulty electrification is eliminated. |
