PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spectrophotometer for performing measurement with constant wavelength purity and a good S/N ratio even in a near infrared region. SOLUTION: The spectrophotometer comprises a light source, a spectrograph for dispersing a light from the light source in wavelengths, a sample cell for irradiating a measured sample with the light from the spectrograph, a detector for detecting the light passing through the sample cell, and a data processor for processing output signals from the detector and controlling the light source, the spectrograph, the sample cell and the detector, wherein luminous energy control means is provided between the spectrograph and the sample cell. The level of the signals output from the detector can be made constant while keeping the wavelength purity constant.
