This fabric softener compositions comprises, a) a quaternary ammonium compound of formula (1) as active substance, in which R is the aliphatic radical of tallow fatty acid, and b) a nitrogen-free polydiorganosiloxane having terminal silicon-bonded hydroxyl groups, 2 organic radicals per silicon atom, an average molecular weight of at least 750, wherein at least 50% of the organic substituents in the polydiorganosiloxane are methyl radicals and all of the other organic substituents present are monovalent hydrocarbons having from 2 to 30 carbon atoms.
