PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera that can prevent loss of image signal, even on the occurrence of a worn battery in a signal processing stage and a recording stage, after image pickup. SOLUTION: A nonvolatile memory is used for a buffer memory in signal processing and recording processing. As a result, it is not longer, required to inhibit the image pickup operation ahead of time, by taking a worn battery on the way of the processing into account to reduce defects, such as missing of precious moment for releasing shutter at the right moment. A magnetic reluctance type memory is preferred for a nonvolatile memory from the standpoint of not causing a delay in the signal processing and the recording processing. Furthermore, at restoration of power, the signal processing or the recording processing is restarted automatically for the image signal in the nonvolatile memory. In this case, storing information used for the restart to the nonvolatile memory can precisely decide a restarting point or the like in detail. |
