PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problem that a large error occurs between a calculated position of an objective lens and a real position of the objective lens because a rotating angle detecting sensor detects the rotating angle and the number of rotations of a motor and a present position of the objective lens is calculated based on a detection result. SOLUTION: In the feeder for articles to be transported provided with a carriage 31 slidably supported by guide shafts 28a and 28b and a pickup transport device 23 which makes the carriage 31 reciprocate along the guide shafts 28a and 28b, a position detecting sensor 24 and a rotating angle detecting sensor 25 which detect the position of both ends 31a and 31b, in a direction which intersects a direction in which the guide shafts 28a and 28b extend, of the carriage 31 are provided.
