PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the weight of a food to be heated on a turntable. SOLUTION: In a microwave oven, the turntable is displaced by an amount corresponding to the weight of a food placed on the turntable. Based on a displacement amount of the turntable, the weight of the placed food is calculated. In the microwave oven, when it is detected that a metering key is operated (YES decision at S2), after a turn table is momentarily turned in an approximate 90 deg. arc (S3), calculation and display of the weight of a food on the turn table are carried out (S4). This constitution, even when the turntable is engaged with a support shaft to interconnect the turntable and a motor, releases the engagement right before weighing of the food.
