PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ventilating apparatus which can carry out ventilation, is high in safety in terms of crime prevention and fire protection, and can protect privacy. SOLUTION: The ventilating apparatus has a ventilating passage 65 connecting slits 22a and 23a formed on both sides of a casing 21, and a damper 29 arranged in a downward movable manner from an opening position to a lower closing position. Then, a metal fixture 30 for supporting the damper 29 or releasing the support of the damper depending on the temperature thereof is provided. Further, a slit 29a of the damper 29 opens the ventilating passage 65 at the opening position, and a closing portion 29t of the damper 29 closes the ventilating passage 65 at the closing position. Thus, the ventilating passage 65 is interrupted in the event of a fire.
