PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retrieve a database with the same program regardless of the structure of the database to be a retrieval target. SOLUTION: When the database to be the retrieval target is a relational database, it is generated by using an SQL instruction in a table CREATE. The retrieval system uses such a database as an input file, analyzes an instruction therein and writes the table body structure information of the analyzed result in the table as an output file. Next, when retrieval conditions are inputted in the case of retrieving this relational database, this retrieval system refers to the prepared table body structure information and generates the SQL instruction for retrieval. Then, the relevant relational database is retrieved while using the generated SQL instruction.
