A security element is disclosed comprising a magnetic layer and an embossed layer (3), the embossed layer having the form of a diffraction grating device, characterised in that the magnetic layer is a soft-magnetic layer (4) and in that the soft magnetic layer (4) has, at least partially, the shape of the embossed pattern of the embossed layer (3), whereby the embossed layer (3) affects the magnetic properties of the soft-magnetic layer (4), to a process of manufacture thereof and to the use of such a security element to avoid counterfeiting of value documents. |
