摘要 The system is charged with sludge and steel alloy balls (6), sized for recirculation under 200-400 deg C. A thermal fluid loop is pumped in under 150-300 deg C. This transfers and controls the thermal flux required by associated systems. Hot dried sludge is subjected to oxidation in air preheated to 180-300 deg C. Heat evolved from oxidation is recycled to heat the recirculating charge and thermal fluid. The organic material is at 250 deg C-300 deg C before oxidation. Air is injected into the system at 2-6 bar. The charge, comprising the steel balls and sludge, is transferred by screw conveyor. Heat exchange takes place into the shaft and flights of the screw. At the same time, friction is exerted on the charge by the rotating screw spirals. Heat is recovered by conduction and convection from the jacket (26) surrounding the oxidation reactor (20), into cold, pressurized air (25). This preheats the air, before it is injected into the reactor. A co-generation system receives heat from the heat exchanger in the thermal fluid circuit, and from a circulating charge cooler. The system produces steam under pressure, exploited in rotary machinery generating electricity. Further preferred details of the plant and its variants are provided.
