PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article inspecting device capable of performing reliable highly accurate inspections by turning the quartz plates having front and reverse sides which are in random states to all up and supplying them for article-inspecting means and of speeding up inspections by two pairs of article-inspecting means and reversing means. SOLUTION: The quartz plates 1 having front and reverse sides in a random state are transferred to a front/reverse-detecting means 3 by an article transfer means 2. The front/reverse-detecting means 3 detects which sides of the quartz plates are turned. The quarts plates with front sides up are transferred to the article-inspecting means 13A by a robot 10, and the quartz plates with reverse sides up are supplied for the reversing means 14A. The reversing means 14A reverses the quartz plates into a state, such that their front sides are turned up and transfers them to the article- inspecting means 13A. Only the quartz plates supplied in the state having their front sides turned up are inspected with high accuracy by the article-inspecting means 13A. As the two pairs of article-inspecting means 13A and 13B and reversing means 14A and 14B are provided, while inspections are performed at one article-inspecting means 13A, the quartz plates are brought in and out of the other article-inspecting means 13B.
