PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the influence of precession to accurately find a direction. SOLUTION: An azimuth is periodically computed based on an angular velocity of the rotation of the earth by combining an optical fiber gyro for detecting the angular velocity by the rotation of the earth and an optical fiber gyro for detecting a rotational angular velocity in a horizontal direction, during above computation, the horizontal-directional rotational angular velocity is integrated to find rotation angle, and a direction of a sensor principal axis is continuously output time-serially by interpolating the direction by the rotation angle. Generation of the precession in a gravity axis on a sensor is detected based on inclinometers 5, 6 for measuring inclinations of two horizontal orthogonal axes on the sensor with respect to the true horizontal and the measured inclinations of the two axes, and the direction of the sensor principal axis is corrected when the precession is generated.
