PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically open/close a gate by utilizing a water level difference while forcibly opening/closing the gate as required. SOLUTION: A gate body 10 is arranged outside an outflow port of a water channel 1 and the gate body 10 is supported to be oscillated by a supporting shaft 12 integrally provided on the gate body 10. The supporting shaft 12 having an engagement member 26 mounted to be rotatable is oscillated and displaced between a standby position and an operation position by a hydraulic cylinder 30. The engagement member 26 has a circular grooved portion 27 in which a pin 22 integrally provided on the gate body 10 is inserted. When the engagement member 26 is at the standby position, the oscillation and displacement of the gate body 10 between the fully closed condition and the fully opened condition of the gate is allowed, while the engagement member 26, when displaced to the operation position, is engaged with the gate body 10 via the pin 22 for constraining the gate body 10 in the fully closed condition of the gate.
