PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method without being affected by fluctuation of light reflectance of a measuring subject in a laser range finder as the first subject, and improve the measurement precision and provide an irregularity information obtaining method to a non-plane subject as the second subject. SOLUTION: For achieving the first subject, a measuring mechanism is composed of a circuit for controlling the number of times of laser radiation, a circuit for measuring the rate of the number of times of effective signal reception, and a variable light damping filter control circuit for dynamically controlling a signal reception rate. For achieving the second purpose, a measuring mechanism for determining distance using plural statistic widths is composed.
