PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting device for steel bars, with which steel bars can be connected easily on the job site thereby executing labor saving and efficiency improvement in steel bar assembly work used for each portion of a building. SOLUTION: Recessed portions 5 for externally fitting to the end portions of both the steel bars 1 and 1 where pre-processed enlarged diameter portion 2 are provided at the end portions, a plurality of connecting members 3 to be coupled by fitting from the external to both the steel bars, and coupling member 4 for coupling the connecting members 3 by external fitting and inserting to a plurality of connecting members 3 are provided, the connecting member 3 is fitted to both the steel bars 1 and 1 from the external, and both the steel bars 1 and 1 can be connected together only by giving the external fitting and press-in the coupling member 4 to the connecting member 3.
