PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing fence preventing a force in a moving direction of a column from acting on the column and capable of maintaining the installed height of the shock absorbing fence even after a colliding object collides with the shock absorbing fence. SOLUTION: This shock absorbing fence is composed of the column 1 erected at an interval, lateral rope materials 22 tensioned in the inter-column direction, longitudinal rope materials 21 tensioned in the almost orthogonal direction to the lateral rope materials and a net-like material 3 tensioned between the lateral rope materials. It is characterized in that the longitudinal rope materials and the lateral rope materials are connected, a rotary body 12 is installed on the column, the longitudinal rope materials are arranged in the rotational direction of the rotary body, and are installed in a mooring tool arranged on the ground.
