PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone that can reduce an electromagnetic energy emitted from the inside of the portable telephone to a head of a human body. SOLUTION: The portable telephone 102 has a transmitter 6 that generates a 1st voice signal, a transmission circuit that transmits a 1st radio signal resulting from modulating the 1st voice signal via an antenna 1, a reception circuit that demodulates a 2nd radio signal received by the antenna 1 to generate a 2nd voice signal, a receiver 9 that sounds the 2nd voice signal, a printed circuit board 5 on which the reception circuit and the transmission circuit are mounted, a shield case 4A that suppresses electromagnetic wave interference between the printed circuit board 5 and the antenna 1 and the surface of which is conductive, a radio wave absorbing body 31 that is in contact with an area 49 of the surface of the shield case 4A placed toward a body head 91 in the case of a speech, and fixing jigs 21, 47, 48 that fix the radio wave absorbing body 31 to the shield case 4A so that the radio wave absorbing body 31 is pressed to the area 49 into close adhesion thereto.
