PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal with an automatic playing function that effectively utilizes a melody function. SOLUTION: A ROM 4 stores data such as communication signal information and character information and sound data that are used by a mailer 3 when it converts melody information into a tone signal. The mailer 3 converts oscillated tone data of the melody data attached to arrived mail data into audible tone data, an amplifier section 6 amplifies a sound source signal received from a sound source 5 and a speaker 7 sounds an audible sound signal. A CPU 2 controls the conversion. When the details of mail or the like are displayed in the case that melody data are attached to the mail or the like or when a file among files displayed as a list is focused or subjected to focus, automatic playing of the melody data attached to a target file is started or melody playing is utilized for various applications. |
