PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device capable of arbitrarily and substantially switching between a high speed moving picture display area and a high definition still picture display area. SOLUTION: This is a picture display device comprising a display controller 10, a picture converter circuit 11, and a display panel 15; the display panel 15 comprises frame memory for sending data of different resolutions and a moving/still picture discriminant circuit; the display panel 15 is provided with a signal driver 12 for applying picture data signals to signal wiring, a gate driver 13 for applying scanning signals to scanning wiring, and a picture selection driver 14 for applying a display block selection signal to selection signal wiring; and the display panel 15 adopts the prescribed number of pixels among lots of pixels arranged in a matrix form as one block unit and composes one picture and display it by combining a moving picture display area 15A for displaying the same information in one scanning period with the plural pixels in one block and a still picture display area 15B for displaying different information by plural times of scanning with the plural pixels in one block. |
