<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing device capable of improving the convenience in the selective set of the erasing and writing processing to an on-chip nonvolatile memory on board or by a PROM writer. SOLUTION: This device has an electrically erasable and writable nonvolatile memory 18, a central processing unit 12 accessible to the nonvolatile memory, and a mode setting means MC for selectively setting an on-board programming mode for performing the erasing and writing of the nonvolatile memory by the central processing unit and a PROM mode for performing the erasing and writing of the nonvolatile memory by an external PROM writer. The on-board programming mode comprises a boot mode for entirely erasing and writing the nonvolatile memory and a user boot mode for allowing the partial erasing and writing of the nonvolatile memory, and the mode setting means can selectively set the boot mode and the user boot mode.</p> |
